Isabel Zaru-Roque is one of the Lead Research Analysts at VT-ARC who has a background in the biomedical field, specifically in epidemiology. Due to her background she also serves as a member of the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). Since the time of COVID-19 becoming a national emergency, Isabel has been volunteering her time to help staff the Alexandria Health Department’s COVID-19 Hotline. As one of the only Epidemiologists currently volunteering at the call center, she is working with a team of former physicians to field questions from both individuals and businesses regarding the best approaches for handling COVID-19 related issues. By serving in this way, health department staff are free to addresses critical functions such as the coordination of county responses and personal investigations. Isabel’s contribution of her personal time and expertise during a moment of national crisis is a demonstration of her commitment to the Northern VA community and VT-ARC’s core value; Ut Prosim (that I may serve).
